Riverdale Farm with kids: free admission, getting there and an easy visit

A small working farm makes a manageable Toronto outing when you plan around the children’s energy, the animals’ routines and a separate snack stop.

Riverdale Farm is free to enter and small enough to visit without turning a family morning into a major expedition. Its appeal is straightforward: seeing farm animals, looking into a working farm setting and spending time outdoors in Cabbagetown. There is no need to build the outing around a ticket price that you have to justify by staying all day.

The useful planning questions are more specific than “is it good for kids?” Which entrance are you aiming for? Can you bring the scooter? Where will everyone eat? How much energy should you save for the journey home? This guide puts those decisions in order, with a short-visit plan you can lengthen if the children are still interested.
